Ukrainian forces have been battling Russian invaders since 24 February. Since then, troops have poured into Ukraine and targets across the country have been struck by air strikes and artillery attacks.

Chair of the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Andrius Kubilius told the Accent that "no country is safe, there are no red lines for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Everyone can see from Putin’s speeches and actions - no country is safe, there are no red lines for him. What is happening - war against Ukraine, against its legitimate government, against its people, and seamless factual occupation of Belarus - this may happen to any neighbouring country, which Putin sees as his “area of interests”. Support to Ukraine is support to security of our countries and saving global peace," MEP Kubilius said.

According to him, "Putin is a war criminal":

"He and his allies must be tried in international tribunal for committing crime against international peace, as Nazi war criminals were tried in the Nuremberg trials. There can be no cooperation with a war criminal."

MEP Kubilius said that Euro-Atlantic integration is the only way to ensure peaceful and democratic way of development for Georgia and other EaP countries.

"Georgia has lost several years to internal political tensions. We were always reminding in all our messages, as friends of Georgia, that the utmost goal for all political forces must be one - Euro-Atlantic integration. This is the only way to ensure peaceful and democratic way of development for Georgia and other EaP countries. In current situation, it is very important to remind the West their promises of keeping NATO doors open and expressly state that Georgia is ready more than ever to join," he said

"The West made a huge mistake not to invite Georgia and Ukraine to join NATO back in 2008," MEP Kubilius added.
