The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, has said that cargo ships from Armenia will be able to use ferries to move goods between Russia and Georgia through the Black Sea.

"Now we are carrying out the final works, the schedule will be published in the near future," said the Minister of Economy of Armenia. Loading of the Zemo Lars checkpoint is cited as a reason of the above-mentioned decision.

When asked about Russia-Georgia ferry service, a State Department Spokesperson told the Accent that the United States and its partners are working closely together to enforce sanctions on Russia. At the same time, Washington supports the free flow of vital goods.

"The United States and its partners are working closely together to impose and enforce sanctions on Russia for its unprovoked war in Ukraine. The United States supports the free flow of vital goods—including agricultural commodities, medicine, and medical devices—and trade-facilitating actions in those sectors," the State Department Spokesperson told the Accent.

Some experts and part of the opposition in Georgia think that the Georgian government is playing a dangerous game, which may harm the image of our country in the international arena. Analysts say the new route is dangerous and could be used to circumvent sanctions on Russia.
