Recently, we have been hearing a completely new rhetoric from Georgia, - the so-called foreign minister of occupied Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, stated this in an interview with Russian media.
"When high-ranking officials, for example, ministers, declare that they are ready to apologize, repent and improve relations with neighboring countries, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, there is nothing wrong with that, on the contrary. However, in order for these not to remain empty statements, we need to move on to real steps. For example, such a step could be the signing of a legally binding agreement on the non-use of military force. This is a practical step that will help strengthen trust between our countries," - Bartsits said.
According to him, occupied Abkhazia will continue to participate in the Geneva talks, although the transfer of the talks to another country is also being considered.
“We will continue to participate in the Geneva format with the support of our Russian colleagues. This is the only platform where we can express our point of view and demand certain actions. This format is important, necessary and today it is the only one. The Geneva format is important, but the Swiss approach is often biased. It is possible to transfer it to a country that will be objective,” - said the so-called minister of occupied Abkhazia.
According to Bartsits, in the future, new states will also “recognize” occupied Abkhazia.
“There will be recognitions. We are actively working in this direction with the help of our Russian colleagues. We believe that time is on our side. We receive signals from countries in different regions that there is an interest in dialogue with us,” - Bartsits said.
