The ruling Georgian Dream party has congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his "well deserved" victory in Sunday's presidential runoff and the People's Alliance on gaining a parliamentary majority.

"Turkey has made impressive progress in recent years, and this, in turn, was confirmed by the election results. We wish the strategic partner and friendly people peace, stability and prosperity for the progress of both Turkey and the region.

Given the challenges in the region, we believe that in the next stage of the administration of Recep Tayyip Erdogan the partnership between the two friendly countries in various directions, will be further deepened and strengthened," the party said in a statement.
