Blocking Armenian cargo violates the spirit of centuries-old Georgian-Armenian friendship, - the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, writes on the social platform X.

According to her, Georgia should act as befits a true partner.

“Blocking Armenian cargo violates the spirit of centuries-old Georgian-Armenian friendship. Georgia must stand as a true partner - not a channel for pressure. Such actions damage trust and regional economic stability. This must stop now”, she writes.

According to RFE/RL’s Armenian Service, prices for liquefied gas in Armenia have risen by more than 40% in recent days after reports emerged of serious obstacles to its import from Russia via Georgia. Armenian gas importers and sellers say that since last week, hundreds of their trucks have been stopped by the Georgian authorities for unknown reasons.

“Our drivers have been stuck there for the past eight or nine days, and there are still no signs that the Georgians will allow them to pass,” a company representative told RFE/RL’s Armenian Service. He said that about 500 trucks bound for Armenia remain at Georgian customs terminals.
